Make Mistakes
Make Mistakes
Everyone wants to make progress from where they are. Whether you want to become a professional athlete, improve your public speaking, become a better writer, or even excel in your career, you need to understand the importance of taking the first step and making mistakes. The road to success and excelling in your field will require many steps in your lifetime, but you cannot take your thousandth step if you remain afraid to take the very first one.
There are plenty of reasons why not to get started, sometimes you feel as though you might not be ready, that you need more time, or you are just timid of looking dumb when you don’t get it right and make mistakes. These are just a few, but I am sure you have heard yourself repeat some of these things to yourself stored in the back of your mind or can feel the shyness of feelings lost and not necessarily confident in your ability to get it right. The longer you harbor these thoughts, the longer it will take to get started and the longer you take to get started the more these thoughts will emasculate your confidence and allow doubt to take a foothold where it does not belong.
There are a few things you should learn to embrace: no one cares how you look or what your mistakes look like, no one starts off great at anything, and making mistakes is necessary to becoming great at anything. The mistakes you make are not evident of your “failures” as some people mistakenly believe, they are opportunities for you to improve on your craft in this endlessly rewarding journey of making your dreams come true. Mistakes can be big or small, but the reward is the same: getting that much closer to where you want to be.
No one wants to look stupid or dumb in front of others, it is a natural feeling of shyness and timidness, feeling like people around you are judging you constantly, and if you happen to make a mistake it just might magnify those same feelings. And the solution to this? Learning to stop caring about what other people think, because the truth is, no one really cares. And, the ones who genuinely do care for you, will still be there rooting for your every single step of the way. For the ones who really want to see you succeed, these mistakes are just more steps to take and there really isn’t much you can do to push them away. That’s the beatify of having such special people in your life. As for everyone else, they all have their own lives, goals, and journeys to make. They don’t have the time to spend more than just a few seconds thinking about your life.
For those who are waiting for the “right time” to get started. I can say, with as must fervor as I have conviction, there will never be a such thing as a “right” time. There is only time and you have to decide what to do with it, but keep in mind it is finite and cannot replenish. You only get to do this once, so if you ever want to get started, there has and won’t be a better time to get started other than right now. Today is a great day to get started.
